JCTS consultants managed and completed the project, which involved the full software lifecycle, including:

• User-defined requirements
• Application and system analysis
• Software design and development of the VARPG and Java-based CAD/CAM application
• Application and System testing
• Implementation
• Customer Training

The completed application allows engineers to display component/part details, complete part lists and associated inventory information using a BPCS database. All components of the application and software reside as resident portions of the AS400.

Utilizing VisualAge RPG, JCTS accessed information on the AS400 and other local databases. All Applets, HTML and Jar files are stored in the AS400, allowing for easy maintenance. VARPG's unique features allow for the conversion of VARPG to either JAVA application or JAVA applet. This conversion allowed greater use of the browser with the application. The conversion of the application from VARPG to JAVA allows greater future flexibility to the customer, because JAVA is platform independent.
